How woke is Lowe’s?

Yahoo News reports Lowe’s recent developments in dialing back its involvement in these causes to reflect consumer concerns. This is a significant shift for a company seen as a progressive supporter of LGBTQ+ issues.

NBC News also points out that Lowe’s has reduced its visibility in LGBTQ+ campaigns, potentially signaling a strategic retreat from overtly progressive social stances. The home improvement chain now faces criticism from activist pressure groups, questioning whether it is genuinely committed to these causes or simply responding to shifting market forces.

Marketing and Branding

In the realm of marketing, Lowe’s is sticking to what it knows best: home improvement. However, some inklings of more progressive messaging are seeping into its campaigns. For instance, there have been nods to community engagement and sustainability, which overlap with social justice and climate change activism​.
