How woke is Charter Communications?

It’s been more than a year since the Equality Community Center moved into its new home on Casco Street in Portland, and the center announced Monday it has raised more than $3 million to cover the property’s purchase and upgrades.

On June 29th, LGBT Tech and Charter Communications attended a Stonewall Pride Bash for its LGBTQ+ elder residents hosted by SAGE. SAGE is a non-profit organization that advocates and supports LGBTQ+ elders nationwide through policy research, outreach, coalitions, and many other programs. SAGE also provides housing, education and training, and counseling to LGBTQ+ elders.

Spectrum will celebrate Pride Month in June with an On Demand collection of films, including Matthew McConaughey as an AIDS patient who smuggles alternative drug treatments for himself and others in the “Dallas Buyers Club;” Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara in a forbidden love affair in “Carol;” Mahershala Ali as a drug dealer who becomes a father figure to a child he finds on the streets in “Moonlight;” and Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe as parents who force their gay son into conversion therapy in “Boy Erased.”

To celebrate Pride Month, we’re spotlighting five business leaders and entrepreneurs from our “Pay It Forward” program whose accomplishments and contributions have made a positive impact on their communities.

Charter Communications, Inc. is celebrating Black History Month throughout February with a variety of initiatives spotlighting African American history, culture and issues. These include special reports from Spectrum Networks, a curated selection of Spectrum On Demand movies, the screening of a new historical documentary about African American astronauts, and a series of thought-provoking conversations about television news, information and entertainment coverage in the black community.
