Company Overview

The American History Education Project (AHEP, also known as ahep1776) is a family-founded nonprofit that offers a free American history curriculum for young children, roughly elementary age. Rather than publishing its own textbooks, it curates great picture books and wraps each one in immersive, literature-based unit-study modules that weave together history, civics, economics, literature, arts and crafts, cooking, scripture, science, and geography. Topics range from Lewis and Clark and the Declaration of Independence to Ellis Island, the Transcontinental Railroad, and Apollo 11.

The project was founded by Chris and Monica Cardiff, longtime homeschoolers who previously ran one of Silicon Valley's largest homeschool support groups, with their daughter and son-in-law helping develop the program. It began as a way to teach their own grandchildren and then opened to other families. AHEP registered as a nonprofit corporation in 2023, and its curriculum is offered free of charge, supported by donations.

As a small family nonprofit, AHEP has no ESG program or sustainability reporting, and none would be expected. Its mission is educational, not corporate. Its resources are devoted to building and giving away curriculum rather than to environmental or social-governance frameworks.
