Is Epic Games Woke? Fortnite's File Says 25. The EA Receipt Is 349.4K.

By BuyWokeFree Editorial

Two cards are doing the work on X this week, and they are not the same receipt. The louder one is from October 22. It says a studio shut down, then adds a culture claim. That culture line belongs to the poster. The card shows 783 replies, 1,739 reposts, 26.5K likes, and 961.7K views. The news card is Electronic Arts, via IGN, dated October 23: fans want every EA product boycotted, BioWare is closing, and the next Mass Effect is canceled. One IGN card. 1,383 replies, 1,529 reposts, 11.6K likes, 349.4K views. No dollar-loss figure is on this capture. BioWare is not a row here, so there is no BioWare score to invent. The parent company already on file is an 80. If that boycott talk sent you looking for a different publisher, the household name this site had not walked is Epic Games.

What a 25 actually records

Epic is published at 25. The label is mildly woke. The marks are narrow.

Fortnite's Rainbow Royale activation shipped Pride-themed cosmetics from 2021 through 2024. The published summary records a reference entry in which Epic told GameSpot it missed the 2025 window. The same summary records February 2026 coverage that reported those cosmetics back in the item shop. That is a Pride footprint. It is a storefront calendar, not a corporate equality department.

What the row does not contain: a formal ESG report, a verified HRC Equality 100, a CEO Action listing, or an organization PAC receipt. A 25 is the score you get when the item shop ran the season and the parent company did not assemble the rest of the machine.

The 349.4K card is a different company

Electronic Arts is published at 80, extremely woke. The 2026 Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index gave EA a perfect 100 and the Equality 100 Award. It stayed in the index while Fortune 500 participation collapsed 65 percent. The Sims still ships Pride content. Apex Legends still carries an LGBTQ+ roster. Since May 2024, EA has scrubbed DEI language from its annual filings and its Impact Report. The DEI Council is still there. So are seven employee resource groups, including PRIDE. Taking a phrase out of a PDF is not the same as closing the office that wrote it.

EA runs no corporate PAC and has done no federal lobbying since 2010. A $55 billion take-private, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund with Silver Lake and Jared Kushner's Affinity Partners, is still pending. The organized backlash against that deal, as the writeup records it, has come from the left, not the right. None of that mints a BioWare score. IGN stated the closure, the cancellation, and a boycott of all EA products. A 1,966-view reply that says EA deserves a medal for axing the studio is not a second boycott.

The other boxes on the same shelf

PlayStation is published at 90, extremely woke. Sony Interactive Entertainment pairs a verified 100 on the 2026 HRC index with nine consecutive years of Tokyo Rainbow Pride sponsorship, Pride@PlayStation networks, DEIB hiring goals, and Global Social Justice Fund programming. The writeup cites OpenSecrets on Sony's 2024 party-coded giving: roughly 95 percent Democratic. Leaving EA for a PlayStation-only shelf is not a step down the scale.

Nintendo of America is published at 45. The number looks like a midpoint. The shape is HR, not a checkbook. Nintendo publishes a CSR report and runs six employee resource groups, a bias course, DE&I language in localization job criteria, and a partnership system at the Japanese parent that grants same-sex domestic partners the same benefits as married employees. It sponsored the Seattle Pride Parade in 2024 with a Play it Proud contingent. The writeup could not confirm 2025 or 2026 sponsorship either way. Nintendo is not rated on the HRC index. A direct FEC search found no corporate PAC.

Microsoft is published at 100. The writeup puts it at the ceiling: sustainability reports, a Global D&I division, Pride campaigns, a perfect CEI score, more than $25 million in political spending, and a CEO Action signature. If the exit plan from EA is to buy the same games on the Microsoft store, you stayed at the top of the file.

What a 25 changes at the register

If you wanted a publisher with no Pride cosmetics on the record, Epic is not that publisher. Rainbow Royale is on the file for 2021 through 2024, and the February 2026 coverage puts the items back in the shop. If you wanted a publisher that is not sitting on an HRC Equality 100, a DEI council, and a Pride employee group after the word DEI left the annual report, Epic is closer to that description than EA is. Those are different questions. IGN told you what fans are asking for, and what the company is closing. The row tells you what EA already was.

The cards that are not a cart

The view king on this morning's screen is not a brand. An October 24 quote card, a politician on ads and then healthcare, drew 1,457 replies, 234 reposts, 1,107 likes, and 1.4M views. That is not a product. This site does not go after the person.

Airbnb hosts threatening to leave over a ban on checkout chores drew 238 replies, 102 reposts, 5,994 likes, and 690K views. The line about being robbed of toilet paper is the post's claim, not a finding. A chore rule is not a culture boycott, and we are not printing a score off a row that is not published. A school ranking, a provincial hiring bill, and a 2014 protest retelling are not products. Woke Brands Talk's first screen did not hand over a scored alternative.

So is Epic Games woke?

Mildly. The published score is 25. Rainbow Royale ran four years. The GameSpot reference in the writeup says Epic missed the 2025 window. February 2026 coverage put the cosmetics back. That is enough to keep Epic off a not-woke list. It is not enough to park Fortnite next to EA's 80, PlayStation's 90, or Microsoft's 100.

If you opened this because of the IGN card, use the card for what it says. Fans want the EA catalog boycotted. BioWare is closing. The next Mass Effect is canceled. 349.4K views. 11.6K likes. The culture sentence on the 961.7K post stays with the poster who wrote it. The dollar loss is not on the capture. The number you can print is 80, on Electronic Arts, and it was already on the file before this week's cards.

Scores for the rest of the shelf are on our Non-Woke Gaming and Interactive Entertainment Brands and Non-Woke Video Game Brands pages. A view count is not a substitute for the row.
